Today’s Scripture

‘Will the Lord reject forever?  Will He never show His unfailing love again?  Has His promise failed for all time?  Has God forgotten to be merciful?  Has He in anger withheld his compassion?’ Then I thought, ’To this will I appeal: The years of the right hand of the Most High.’

Psalm 77:7-10 (NIV)

Today’s Word

I’ve always found it amazing that, in the middle of this psalm, the psalm writer seemed to realize that he couldn’t just sit around thinking about the negative things that were happening in his life.  Perhaps he understood that if he kept thinking about the negative he would keep feeling down, so in order to get the negative things out of his mind he decided to replace them with thoughts about the Lord.  There is an old proverb that says, “Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle.”  Many times when we find ourselves in dark situations in life, dark situations at work, dark situations in our families.  We try to find someone to call and say, “It sure is dark” when what we really need to do is replace those thoughts with thoughts about the light.

Those children may be acting out of character, but at least they’re healthy!

They may not pay you what you desire right now, but at least you’re working!

They may have walked out of your life, but at least they didn’t take you out on the way!

Instead of cursing the dark areas in your life, I dare you to light a candle of praise!

Think God Thoughts!

Let your mind stay on things that are good, wholesome, just and right.  Have the mindset of Christ, and think the thoughts of your Creator.

Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise:  things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable or commendable.

~~ Philippians 4:8

The joy of the Lord will keep you strong!  Think on these things.

It’s Still Mine

Although it may seem as if it’s not within reach . . . it’s still yours.  It doesn’t matter if they’ve said you’ll NEVER have it . . . it’s still yours!!!  In actuality, when you consider how we function and how we maneuver in life, we must realize that God is a Promise Keeper.   People break promises on a daily basis, but God DOES NOT and CAN NOT!   Just know that God has not forgotten about you.  Let me pose one of life’s tests in the form of a question:  . . .  can you remain committed to the things of God when everyone else is receiving their blessing and you have not receive yours?

Regardless of how it looks, we must learn to lean and depend on God.   Until God is all that you have, you will never know God is all that you need.  When God promises you a blessing, you can rest assured that it’s coming and it’s tailored made for you.  It is possible that reaching your reserved blessing requires a certain amount of time and patience; however, don’t fall into the trap of becoming frustrated while you practice patience in waiting on God.

God will protect and preserve you!  Caleb reminded Joshua when he was 85 years old that he was as strong that day as he was the day that Moses sent him.  God will fix it so that you are just as strong as when God gave you the promise as long as you continue to walk in His Word.  Thanks to the Lord that gives us victory.

You are more than a conqueror.    In Joshua 14:10,  it took 45 years for Caleb to get his blessing in the midst of him seeing the promised land several times while following Moses.  God’s favor was based on Caleb’s faithfulness.  It’s important that we walk in holiness as we seek God’s blessings.

Can you trust God on the days when your blessing doesn’t seem visible?  Hebrews 11:1 states that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.  They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength . . .

Practice having patience regardless of how long you have to wait.  God does not renege on His promise!!  Know that your blessing is still yours.  Continue to celebrate with others as they receive their promise and watch what God will do for you.  Caleb was faithful because he kept hearing what God told him although God only told him once.  It was important for Caleb to continue to remind himself of what God said.  Know this . . . faith comes by hearing and hearing comes from the Word of God.  Be ready as God opens up the doors and unlocks some stuff with your name on it!
