Today’s Scripture

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Today’s Word

Many times, we want to do things on our own without seeking the Lord for directions.  We think we know what is best for us, but God knows what is better.  I’ve learned that when I truly and sincerely trust God, in all situations, He smooths the pathway for me.  I have left friends and family to follow what God has for me.  God has allowed me to go through the valley, only to bring me out a better person.  Family and friends want to know why I seem “so at peace”.  This is when I share my testimonies of how God brought me out of situations, and kept me in my “right mind”.  GOD IS A KEEPER!!!

Morning Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you for reminding me that your plan for me will never fail!  I thank you when I find it hard to press on.  Thank you for fresh strength.

Thank you that you are always faithful while I wait on your will to be fulfilled.  I praise you in advance.

Deep in my heart, I know that every promise you have given me will come true.  You will never fail me.

New Year New You

Golden Gate Cathedral is out with the old and in the new.  Since the beginning of this new year, we have been in a posture to fast forward to the new position the Lord Almighty is calling us to within this season.  We are no longer looking backwards in the rear view mirror of what hasn’t worked or what hasn’t happened.  The only way we can receive what God has for us is looking ahead towards the plan He has for us.  The reason the car windshield is larger than the rear window is because there is more to see and more to receive when we look ahead.  Get ready for an incredible year in 2012 and watch God move in way that may seem unbelievable.  Go ahead and let the past go!  Have faith and move forward into this next move of God.

Great Things are Going on Here

There are some amazing things happening at Golden Gate Cathedral.  We believe the Word of God is True and at the end of the day, God is still God!!!!  God promises to keep us, sustain us, protect us, heal us, provide for us, redeem us, and the list goes on.    I’m sure you get this point by now.  GOD IS JUST AWESOME!  It is no secret that God’s grace and mercy is made available to us 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  If you don’t have a church where you are growing and active, we invite you to join us for one of our worship experiences.  Check out our worship schedule here.

We are located at 3240 James Road in Memphis, TN near the corner of James Road and Warford.  If you are not in the area, check out the new online campus.  The online worship experience allows you to read your BIBLE, give, chat, take notes, utilize facebook & twitter and a host of other neat things.

God is up to so much, and we are excited about connecting with you!

It’s a New Year

It’s the beginning of a new year, and God is definitely up to something incredible.   The pages of your new book are blank and the slate is swept clean.  This would make it a perfect time to take advantage of new opportunities and create a pathway to do some impossible things with a Creator who can make all things possible.   Regardless of the adversities of 2011, it did not take you out.   Make a decision today to leave all past hurts and disappointments in the past along with 2011.  Hold your head up high, stick your chest out and be fearless and determined in knowing that you are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ.  Don’t be afraid to take the first step.  Many times, it’s the first step that causes your feet to keep moving, and before you know it, you’ve allowed God to begin a new and great work within you to do some awesome things in Him.

Whatever your goals are for 2012, don’t hesitate to push and allow it to come to past.

It’s Still Mine

Although it may seem as if it’s not within reach . . . it’s still yours.  It doesn’t matter if they’ve said you’ll NEVER have it . . . it’s still yours!!!  In actuality, when you consider how we function and how we maneuver in life, we must realize that God is a Promise Keeper.   People break promises on a daily basis, but God DOES NOT and CAN NOT!   Just know that God has not forgotten about you.  Let me pose one of life’s tests in the form of a question:  . . .  can you remain committed to the things of God when everyone else is receiving their blessing and you have not receive yours?

Regardless of how it looks, we must learn to lean and depend on God.   Until God is all that you have, you will never know God is all that you need.  When God promises you a blessing, you can rest assured that it’s coming and it’s tailored made for you.  It is possible that reaching your reserved blessing requires a certain amount of time and patience; however, don’t fall into the trap of becoming frustrated while you practice patience in waiting on God.

God will protect and preserve you!  Caleb reminded Joshua when he was 85 years old that he was as strong that day as he was the day that Moses sent him.  God will fix it so that you are just as strong as when God gave you the promise as long as you continue to walk in His Word.  Thanks to the Lord that gives us victory.

You are more than a conqueror.    In Joshua 14:10,  it took 45 years for Caleb to get his blessing in the midst of him seeing the promised land several times while following Moses.  God’s favor was based on Caleb’s faithfulness.  It’s important that we walk in holiness as we seek God’s blessings.

Can you trust God on the days when your blessing doesn’t seem visible?  Hebrews 11:1 states that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.  They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength . . .

Practice having patience regardless of how long you have to wait.  God does not renege on His promise!!  Know that your blessing is still yours.  Continue to celebrate with others as they receive their promise and watch what God will do for you.  Caleb was faithful because he kept hearing what God told him although God only told him once.  It was important for Caleb to continue to remind himself of what God said.  Know this . . . faith comes by hearing and hearing comes from the Word of God.  Be ready as God opens up the doors and unlocks some stuff with your name on it!
